Matt Kent has been performing and teaching percussion for many years. He has a Bachelors degree in Music Education from the University of North Texas and has worked as a high school Marching Band and Percussion Ensemble Director. Matt has performed in many venues, including Disneyland All American Marching Band and Crystal Cruise Line.
Marc Durrance is not only the guitar and electric bass instructor at The Music Den, he is also the owner. Marc has a Minor in guitar from the University of Central Florida where he studied under Eric Lesko. During his studies he also attended master classes under internationally renowned classical guitarist Manuel Barrueco. Marc has many years of private teaching experience, having taught at several music stores including JEM Guitars in Apopka before opening The Music Den. Marc has performed in many professional settings over the years in roles ranging from rock lead guitarist to solo acoustic performer. Marc excels in virtually every style of playing, including finger picking, with a passion for rock, classical and bluegrass. Marc tailors each student’s curriculum to focus on their particular goals, with an emphasis on ear training, timing, applicable music theory and performance of the student’s favorite pieces.
Jerry Idle is a piano/keyboard instructor with extensive teaching, performing, recording and touring experience. Jerry possesses a Bachelor of Arts degree in Piano from the University of Central Florida, having earned a scholarship and a 3.4 grade point average. He later returned to UCF, completing a public school teaching certification. Jerry’s expertise encompasses a wide range of genres; including classical, jazz and contemporary stylings. Jerry has been teaching at The Music Den for several years. Jerry’s prolific performance experience includes recording and performing with international recording group First Gear, having toured over 40 states and two foreign countries. Their album “Steep Hill” was recognized in Billboard magazine. He also performed with the band Prime Time, having the pleasure of opening for Bob Hope at the Sea World Atlantic Stage. Jerry also recorded for the 10-selection “Music for the Heart” with the Lee Miles Group. Jerry currently performs and sings locally with the contemporary ensemble The Soft Touch.
Susan Stewart is a native of Orlando. Susan completed a Bachelor of the Arts degree in voice in 1989 from Florida State University. She was a member of the Winter Park Bach Festival Choir from 1992 until 2000. She began singing with the Cathedral Choir at the Cathedral Church of St. Luke in downtown Orlando in 1997 where she was Alto Section Leader. She also sang numerous solos and special concerts for the church. In addition, she performs periodically at other Central Florida churches.
Susan has taught voice and piano for many years.
Maya Inman is a native of Orlando and has been studying violin since the age of seven and performing in orchestras since 1992. She has been teaching violin for ten years. During her high school years she performed solos for honors in music and received scholarships and awards. She attended Southern Adventist University, performing with their Symphony Orchestra, and she currently performs with the Maitland Symphony Orchestra. While she has taught a number of subjects including English and math, violin remains her passion.
